Yeah - it’s my drawing! Spacing seems to be a little off in the final shot though (unfortunately)

Absolutely gorgeous.  I love it that Brad Bird gets animation - character animation.  The entire clip is all about Remi’s character - the obstacles he has to face in order to acheive his dreams.  So much of what other studios do nowadays reminds me of amusement park rides.  This looks like it’s all about character - which is the part of animation I always liked.  I didn’t get into animation to do prop animation or flybys - I got into it to do character animation - to do performances.

Oh, and Brad can draw as well!  The direction on that film must’ve been insane.  Everyone pushing each other to do better and better work.  Can’t wait to see it.

Unbelievable.

When I was a freshman at CalArts (1990), Bob Winquist showed us this cheesy 3D-short of a train jumping some railroad tracks.  He told us this was the future and we had better learn it.

Never in a million-quadrillion years could I have imagined CG could look this appealing.  This inviting.

Damn.  It.

We’re thinking that the idea of doing original films is going to catch on, because after all, where do sequels come from?

Ward Kimball, who as a top animator, had his own room, was gazing out the window one rainy day (it does rain in California), when the door opened behind him. After a suitable pause, he turned, and there was WALT! Never at a loss, Ward just said in a hearty voice, “Just studying effects, Walt, just studying effects!” I imagine Walt had a good laugh!
